Watercolor Paintings – Health Education Council

Created by program participants for Health Education Council initiative to help Spanish-speaking Latinas build connection and improve mental health during the pandemic.

Displayed at Consulate General of Mexico in Sacramento through April 2022.

Project Overview

The 9×12-inch art pieces are vibrant self-portraits featuring colorful scenes and messages encouraging vaccinations and masks. Each illustrates the artist as a powerful woman protecting her family.

About the Artists

The women worked with a local artist training in community mental health to learn watercolor techniques and strategies for talking with friends and family about COVID-19 safety and vaccinations.
